Solitary tree. Coombes, West Sussex, UK
Some days the images just don’t present themselves and today was one of those days. I converted this colour image to black and white and added some grain to try to make something a little more interesting. I’m not convinced it works, but tomorrow is another day. . .

No, it does work. What works are the angles that add to the dynamism here – you have that triangular shape of the clouds in the top left/central area with the diagonal running from the bottom right. The tree meets the space in between … I like that!

Thanks Gill! I wish I’d climbed over the gate and taken this from a lower perspective so that more of the tree breaks the skyline. I also think I’ve overdone the grain. However, I learnt from Steve’s presentation on Tuesday and lightened the tree to try to draw the eye there.

I can see your vision and yes, going lower to get a wider perspective of the tree would have been interesting. But I really like what you got … and clearly, the lightned tree worked for me!! Isn’t it lovely to keep learning and thinking …!
